Your Questions Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Freemasonry?

Freemasonry is the world's oldest and largest fraternity represented by Masonic Lodges that can be found almost anywhere in the world.

Centuries ago, in the early days of Freemasonry, members learned the craft by secretly using signs and symbols. With these, not only used to prove their commitment but also for their safety and to help protect each other.

Today, the same secrets are communicated as tradition. Each lodge works to achieve a common goal: to make good men better. By making good men better this improves their families, their communities and most importantly: themselves.

  • What does it mean to be a Freemason?

To be a Freemason is to better yourself as a man. Every member has their own reasons for joining a Masonic Lodge. Some join to continue a long line of family tradition going back generations. Others want the comradery that is shared between all brothers in the Lodge. New friendships are forged. Brothers for life.

The relationships made in the Lodge are not restricted by borders or countries. You can visit any Lodge in the world and be accepted by those men because they are your brothers too. Freemasonry does not discriminate against race, religion or status. All brothers are the same. The bonds made by men build on the foundation of learning from one another and helping each other grow.
